Qingdao promotes cold chain logistics facility construction

Construction has been accelerated at the Qingdao International Aquatic Products Trading Center and the Cold Chain Logistics Base project in Qingdao West Coast New Area.

The project, which boasts the largest of its kind in North China, integrates international aquatic products trading, cold chain logistics, warehousing and processing, ocean-going fishing vessel reconditioning, dock operation and supporting services.

In 2019, during the project's first phase, three cold storage warehouses with an accumulated capacity of 150,000 metric tons and a total investment of about 470 million yuan ($71.29 million) were put into use. Up to now, it has stored more than 400,000 tons of aquatic products and meat, making it the largest meat storage repository in China.

In October 2021, during the project's second phase, two cold storage warehouses with an accumulated capacity of 100,000 tons and a total investment of about 378 million yuan were put into use.

With a total investment of about 760 million yuan, the project's third phase, which has a total capacity of 200,000 tons, is expected to be put into use this year.

In the future, the Qingdao Cold Chain Logistics Base will build a cold storage group with a capacity of 3 million tons, making it the world's largest cold chain logistics base.
