Human Horizons signed a cooperation agreement with Qingdao on Jan 17 to set up its China headquarters in the city. The company will build a world-class R&D technology center, and establish a sales and service enterprise in Qingdao.

Human Horizons Technology is a Chinese company based in Shanghai that makes electric cars under the HiPhi brand and develops autonomous driving technology. It operates its production and assembly smart plant in Yancheng, Jiangsu province, and its parts boutique prototype factory in Jinqiao, Shanghai.

In recent years, Qingdao has been promoting the development of new energy vehicles. The cooperation with Human Horizons will inject new vitality into the high-quality development of Qingdao new energy automobile industry, said local officials.

Statistics show that in 2020, Qingdao automobile manufacturing industry achieved operating income of 107.3 billion yuan ($16.89 billion). The number of enterprises above designated size in Qingdao's automobile industry exceeded 270.
