Qingdao seizes RCEP opportunities in healthcare industry

The launch ceremony of the RCEP Healthcare Industry Innovation Body was held on Jan 5 in Shibei district of Qingdao, Shandong province. This shows an embrace of the RCEP market in the medical and health sector in Qingdao after the RCEP came into effect.

Representatives from the Qingdao science and technology bureau, Qingdao market supervision bureau, Shibei district government and Spright Industrial Capital Group signed the cooperation framework agreement on the RCEP Healthcare Industry Innovation Body.

Qingdao Ronghui Wealth Investment Holding Group and Spright Industrial Capital Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement to explore a new model of government-enterprise coordinated development and cooperation.

In addition, five leading enterprises in the medical and health industry signed strategic cooperation agreements with the Shibei district government.

The pilot area of the RCEP Healthcare Industry Innovation Body covers an office area of 27,000 square meters and includes the medical industry headquarters base, a trading center, an industrial service center and a small and medium-sized medical enterprise cultivation base. It will gather leading medical device enterprises and other medical supporting industries and build hardware service platforms, software service platforms and supporting facilities.

The RCEP Healthcare Industry Innovation Body will contribute to Qingdao's efforts to build an international health industry, said local officials.

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement, the world's largest free trade deal, came into force on Jan 1. It was signed on Nov 15, 2020, by 15 Asia-Pacific countries-the 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
