The competition, which was guided by the State Information Center and hosted by the Shandong Provincial Big Data Bureau, covered the four categories of digital government, digital society, digital economy, as well as new infrastructure. The jury consisted of academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as top experts.

Through the comprehensive use of 5G, edge computing, network slicing, and other advanced technologies, Qingdao Port's smart system has been constructed to meet the functional performance, as well as security and reliability requirements of 5G networks in various application scenarios.

Relying on 5G plus MEC technology, the port's production command and control system can be upgraded to achieve remote control of large equipment.

Zheng Qingxiu, an official in charge of waterway management with the Ministry of Transport, said earlier that Qingdao Port is on its way to becoming an intelligent and green port, setting an example for other domestic ports.

Currently, 5G technology is used in operations involving quay cranes, rail-mounted gantry cranes, container movement, and high-definition video data transmission.
