The Medical College of Qingdao University ranked 18th in China, while the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University ranked 35th, according to the 2020 Science and Technology Evaluation Metrics (STEM) of China's medical colleges and hospitals, which was released by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences on Oct 31 in Beijing.

A total of 110 independent medical colleges and comprehensive universities with medical related disciplines participated in the evaluation. The Medical College of Qingdao University was ranked 18th, up 16 places from 2019.

A total of 1,634 hospitals participated in the evaluation. The Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University ranked 35th, 22 places higher than that of 2019. Seven disciplines of the hospital, including neurosurgery, endocrinology and metabolism, emergency medicine, thoracic surgery, rheumatology and autoimmunity, as well as nursing and pediatrics, were ranked among the top 20 specialties in China.
