A news conference was held by the National Development and Reform Commission on Oct 21 with the purpose of promoting the reform and development of private enterprises by learning from the experiences of demonstration cities such as Qingdao, Wenzhou, and Quanzhou.

A total of eight cities including Qingdao, Chengdu, and Wenzhou have been selected as demonstration cities for reform in the country. Qingdao is the only place in northern China.

Fourteen demonstration projects in Qingdao have been adopted, including the establishment of a policy communication platform and special funds to assist small and micro enterprises with technological transformation.

The Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Private Sector Development will work with enterprises to further optimize s the reform and development of private enterprises in Qingdao's efforts to serve as a demonstration city for the private sector.

High priority has also been given to the provision of a conducive legal environment to aid private sector development, with a focus on the protection of the legal rights and interests of private enterprises.

Another area of focus is providing full support to the development of private enterprises.

Qingdao has also sought to improve the business environment of the private sector by focusing on tackling grassroots problems related to financing and land use.
