Digital security will be highlighted at the upcoming World Industrial Internet Conference, which will be held in Qingdao, Shandong province from Oct 26 to 27, according to the organizing committee.

The conference will include the Industrial Internet Security System Construction Forum, in which industrial internet security policies, development trends, and industrial practice will be discussed from multiple dimensions with the goal of ensuring industrial internet security, as well as promoting the industrial internet's high-quality development and the new "global industrial revolution".

"As one of the core elements of the development of the industrial internet, security permeates all links of the industrial process," said the organizing committee, adding that network attacks in industrial fields are very high and that the number of security vulnerabilities in industrial control systems continues to increase.

In recent years, Qingdao has helped enterprises improve their security protection ability and accelerate the development of industrial internet network security by carrying out pilot demonstrations of industrial internet network security classifications.

Directory lists of important industrial control systems and security responsibility systems have been established, while industrial internet network security enterprises have been cultivated in the city, said local authorities.

According to official statistics, the National Research Center for Industrial Information Security Development tracked 274 industrial information security incidents publicly released in 2020, including 92 blackmail software attacks, accounting for 33.6 percent of the total, involving many key industries in more than 20 countries.

"We must give full play to the role of passwords in industrial network security and guard industrial internet security from three aspects: industrial data security, access security, and operation security," said Zheng Jianhua, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, at the 2021 Qingdao Industrial Information Security Forum, which was held on Oct 12.

Qingdao has carried out classified and graded pilot projects to cultivate and attract more network security enterprises, according to local officials.

In order to further explore a new path for industrial information security to guide the development of its high-end manufacturing industry, Qingdao is constantly strengthening the security protection of industrial internet networks, cooperating to promote multi-sectoral cooperation, building security systems, as well as carrying out the classification pilot of industrial internet network security to help enterprises improve their safety protection ability.
