The Shinan district – in Qingdao city, in East China's Shandong province – recently reopened its revamped Moon Market on Taipingjiao beach, which has been upgraded with an exotic twist in a bid to boost tourism, according to local media reports on May 20.

The district, which lies to the south of the coastal city,  is striving to transform the Taipingjiao Scenic Area into a faithful representation of the Island of Bali – a famous island resort in Indonesia which attracts hordes of international tourists.

The market is next to a number of European-style restaurants, as well as Taipingjiao beach's popular seaside boardwalk. It has embraced the concept of sun, sea and sand to help replicate the experience of being on the Island of Bali, decorating the market with colorful ribbons and festive accessories with a tropical style.

The Moon Market has set up stalls with local delicacies, snacks, drinks and handicrafts – combining that with  music, live concerts and a host of other colorful entertainments, to give visitors a cool time.

Nowadays, the Moon Market is becoming known to its many fans for its bright and breezy atmosphere, laying on a bunch of fun activities to draw in ever more customers. It reportedly attracted more than 100,000 visitors last year who spent up big, boosting the local economy.
