Peking University People's Hospital to open branch in Qingdao

The Qingdao Municipal Health Commission, Qingdao's Chengyang district government, and Peking University People's Hospital signed an agreement on May 19 to build the Qingdao branch of Peking University People's Hospital.

Founded in 1918, Peking University People's Hospital was the first general hospital financed and operated by Chinese nationals. Throughout the past century, the hospital has had a consistent commitment to providing high-quality patient care, excellent education, and innovative research.

In order to speed up the building of a national regional medical center, as well as to promote the expansion of quality medical resources and regional balanced distribution, Qingdao has been communicating with Peking University People's Hospital since mid-April this year.

Thanks to the hard and efficient work of all parties, the cooperation intention agreement was reached in less than one month.

The Qingdao branch of Peking University People's Hospital, based on the Chengyang Branch of Qingdao Women and Children's Hospital, as well as the advantages of 11 national key disciplines and 18 national key clinical specialties of Peking University People's Hospital, is designed to be a regional medical center that will serve East China and even Northeast Asia.

The first phase of the hospital covers an area of 82,000 square meters, with 500 beds. It has been completed and put into operation.

The second phase has a construction area of about 150,000 sq m, with 700 planned beds. It is scheduled to start construction this year.

According to local officials, the new hospital will further improve the level of medical science and technology in Qingdao, contribute to the construction of a healthy Qingdao, as well as enable residents in Qingdao and the Jiaodong area to enjoy the top medical services in China at a close proximity.
