The list was recently released by CCID Consulting, a think tank under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The ranking mainly focuses on six digital construction indicators covering the digital economy, digital government, digital governance, digital innovation and digital foundation, according to CCID Consulting.

Since the beginning of this year, Qingdao has been promoting the implementation of the digital Qingdao initiative and the construction of a new smart city. It has paid closer attention to the bolstering of digital facilities, digital government, digital economy, digital society and system construction to facilitate high-quality local development.

More 5G base stations have been built in Qingdao this year, with all main urban areas provided with 5G coverage.

The city is presently home to 12 data centers over a certain scale and a number of industrial internet platform companies such as Haier Group and Sailun Group.

Focusing on digital government and digital governance, the city has accelerated data integration, adding 210 million pieces of data to the central database, and collecting 1.3 billion pieces of government data, realizing 98 percent of municipal government data sharing. More than 7,000 government procedures can be handled online.

Relying on six digital economy parks, the city has been fueling the development of digital industries.
