Qingdao to boost business ties with SCO members

The eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province has been ramping up efforts to boost economic cooperation with members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, said local officials.

The city hosted the SCO Summit in June 2018 and is home to the China-SCO Demonstration Zone for Local Economic and Trade Cooperation.

According to a news conference held on Oct 9 in Beijing, the 2020 SCO International Investment and Trade Expo will be held from Oct 16 to 18 in Jiaozhou, a county-level city in Qingdao.

The expo is jointly hosted by the Qingdao Municipal Government, the China Chamber of International Commerce and the Shandong Sub-council of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

Organizers said that diplomatic envoys from 28 countries, including over 10 foreign ambassadors to China, will attend the expo's opening ceremony, while over 600 companies from home and abroad have confirmed their attendance at the expo.

Covering an exhibition area of about 15,000 square meters, the expo will display the latest products and cutting-edge technologies of companies in fields such as logistics, energy, finance and trade.

An online exhibition will also be available to promote products and facilitate cooperation.

Meanwhile, the inauguration ceremony for the 30,000-square-meter China-SCO Countries Cooperation Hub will be held on Oct 16. The platform will feature exhibitions, marketing and roadshows to inspire international cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Fifteen business associations from Russia, India, Sri Lanka and other countries as well as 200 Chinese and foreign employees plan to move into the business hub, said local officials.
