Le Figaro, a French daily newspaper, reported on Aug 3 that the Qingdao International Beer Festival has been barely affected as the epidemic is under control in China.

The 30th Qingdao International Beer Festival kicked off at Golden Beach Beer City in Qingdao West Coast New Area on the evening of July 31, marking the beginning of the 17-day beer carnival season.

The report stated that China has brought the viral outbreak under control through concerted COVID-19 prevention and control measures such as enforcing the wearing of masks, mandatory quarantine for certain groups of people and the timely screening of people who have had close contact with those infected with the novel coronavirus.

The organizers of the Qingdao beer festival nevertheless adopted a series of measures to further ensure public health, such as limiting daily visitor numbers to 30 percent of maximum capacity, measuring temperatures of visitors and ensuring all staff wear masks.

Visitors to the beer festival generally felt safe, the report added.

Established in 1991 and hailed as Asia's Oktoberfest, the annual Qingdao International Beer Festival is the largest of its kind in Asia and one of China's top 10 tourism events.
