A special exhibition is on show at the Museum of Rickshaw Boy in Shinan district, Qingdao, as 2020 marks the 10th anniversary of the museum's opening.

The museum is the former residence of the famous Chinese writer, Lao She (1899-1966), and is also China's first professional museum named after a famous literary work. It has attracted about 920,000 visitors over the past 10 years.

The exhibition consists of four major parts, showcasing different editions of Lao She's well-known novel Rickshaw Boy, some letters written by Lao She, artworks donated to the museum and visitors' messages.

More than 30 editions of the novel, published since the 1950s, are on display. Some editions are being exhibited for the first time, as is the original manuscript. People's Literature Publishing House published a computer-generated edition based on a replica in 2009, but the edition displayed this time was photocopied after the manuscript was found.

Paintings and paper-cuttings themed around the museum and Lao She were created by talented artists, allowing visitors to learn more about this famous writer from different perspectives.

Visitors have left over 100,000 messages at the museum over the years and about 1,000 have been selected for the exhibition to show people's respect for Lao She and their love of literature.

The museum is open from 9 am to 11:30 am and from 1 pm to 4 pm every day except Monday.

Visitors are required to wear face masks at the museum and only individual visitors are accepted during the period of COVID-19 pandemic control.
