Qingdao will enhance risk assessment and port quarantine measures to better curb the epidemic.

All incoming passengers to Qingdao, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, must be quarantined for 14 days from Monday, according to a statement issued by local authorities on Monday.

People arriving in Qingdao with suspected symptoms of COVID-19 should be isolated in designated hospitals, while others are required to stay at their residences or designated hotels for 14 days.

All incoming personnel must have their hotels or residences in Qingdao registered beforehand and be picked up by vehicles dispatched by the district and county-level city of their accommodation upon arrival.

From Jan 24 to Feb 23, the city's airport received 20,516 incoming passengers. Strict observation or quarantine measures have been implemented on those traveling from hard-hit regions, with fever or cough symptoms, or having been in close contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients.
