The first Global Health Expo of Boao Forum for Asia concluded on June 12 in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province.

Margaret Chan Fung Fu-chun, president of the forum, announced that the event's second edition will be held in the city next June.

The three-day event included the opening ceremony, the plenary session, 28 sub-forums, four project roadshows, 16 key promotion activities, and the global health expo. It attracted more than 2,600 experts and scholars from over 50 countries and regions to share their insights and experience in many areas related to the health sector.

The Qingdao Declaration on Global Youth Health was unveiled during a sub-forum to reach young people around the world and raise their awareness about healthy lifestyles and behaviors.

The Global Health Expo of Boao Forum for Asia welcomed thousands of visitors during its three days. More than 200 well-known enterprises and organizations from home and abroad showcased the latest concepts, technologies, and achievements in health-related industries, such as the Internet of medicine, 5G telemedicine, medical facilities, health management, and public service.

The University of Rehabilitation project was inaugurated. The university, which has been approved by the Ministry of Education, is designed as a research-based and application-oriented university to train more rehabilitation professionals to help the disabled and the elderly live happier and more dignified lives.

A total of 89 innovative projects in the health sector took part in road shows, including a dispenser that prevents opioid overdoses and a blood vessel scavenger extracted from microalgae.

In addition, 25 health industry cooperation projects have been signed, including the China-South Korea medical care demonstration park, the smart health industry park, which has an investment totaling 6 billion yuan ($867 million), as well as the Qingdao international general practitioner training base and research institute.
