The Qingdao West Coast New Area Health Bureau has launched the "Happy Mind Program" based on psychiatric hospitals' providing residents with outpatient mental health services.

Seven outpatient clinics were opened to the public. Residents can access mental health services nearby.

More than 20 professional psychological counselors are available all year round, providing residents with mental health services such as individual counseling, group counseling, group supervision, psychological testing, mental health education, cognitive therapy, behavioral therapy and psychoanalytic therapy.

In 2018, the district listed outpatient clinics for mental health services as a government practice.

It invested more than 3 million yuan ($434,100) to build seven outpatient clinics in the West Coast New Area Psychiatric Hospital, People's Hospital, Central Hospital, Chinese Medicine Hospital, Second People's Hospital, Second Chinese Medicine Hospital and the Women's Insurance Center.

The clinics are equipped with psychological CT, treatment beds and other medical equipment. The clinic in the Psychiatric Hospital is equipped with 13 sets of psychological CT (network version) equipment and terminals. The other six clinics are equipped with stand-alone psychological CT equipment to better serve the patients.

To date, the clinics have served 7,500 residents with mental health services, leading the way among provinces and cities.
