Qingdao West Coast New Area captured in photos
The Qingdao West Coast New Area was established in June 2014 upon the approval of China's State Council.
Located on the west coast of Jiaozhou Bay in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, the area includes the whole administrative region of the original Huangdao district and the county-level city, Jiaonan, and covers a sea area of about 5,000 square kilometers and a land area of about 2096 sq kms.
Favored by a coastline of 282 kilometers, intertidal zones of 83 sq kms, 21 islands and 23 natural harbors, the Qingdao West Coast New Area is designated to pilot marine technology innovation and serve as a strategic base for deep sea and off-shore exploration.
