chinadaily.com.cn| Updated: March 23, 2026

On March 20, the 16th Leijiadianzi Strawberry Festival began in the Hongshiya subdistrict of Qingdao West Coast New Area. With a theme of harvesting sweet new lives and embracing rural charm, this annual event transforms the district into a vibrant carnival of agricultural tourism.

This year's festival offers a diverse experience of local culture and nature. Beyond the classic strawberry picking, visitors can explore traditional intangible heritage and scenic landscapes. To assist visitors, authorities released a beautifully illustrated hand-drawn map of Hongshiya's agri-tourism resources. This guide details six major thematic routes connecting 27 key landmarks, from historical sites to modern agricultural parks.

After the opening, the main venue hosted a lively spring garden party. A bustling market featured unique local produce, handmade crafts, and creative cuisine, while a strawberry education zone attracted families. The atmosphere was festive, with cultural performances, folk shows, and interactive lucky draws, providing an engaging weekend getaway for city dwellers.

This festival marks a milestone in the 35-year evolution of the Leijiadianzi strawberry brand. From modest beginnings, the industry has adopted an "ecological and green" development approach, promoting large-scale and standardized agricultural growth. By merging agricultural traditions with modern tourism, Hongshiya subdistrict is successfully cultivating a sustainable agri-tourism ecosystem that benefits both local farmers and visitors.
