On March 18, Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) announced the start of the 2026 collegiate competition series, featuring singing, football, and basketball competitions.

Running from mid-March through October, this initiative integrates arts and athletics to provide a platform for students from 18 local universities to showcase their passion and talent.

The singing competition introduces a model that combines traditional contests with concert tours and talent incubation. Additionally, the collegiate football and basketball leagues represent China's first district-level integrated sports system, merging professional competitive standards with supportive features. These events act as a bridge between the campus and the city, empowering regional economic and social development through cultural vitality.

City-campus integration remains a central highlight of this year's program. By utilizing iconic venues like the Golden Beach Beer City alongside professional stadiums, the series encourages students to engage with the local landscape.

Beyond the competitions, the organizers have made a support system for youth development. This includes high-profile Music Ambassador titles for talented vocalists and touring recruitment fairs for graduates, creating a unique Sports + Employment synergy.

Enhanced by a multimedia approach featuring live streaming and interactive voting, the festival coordinates with the Qingdao International Beer Festival and youth creative markets. This multifaceted strategy not only enriches the students' cultural life but also promotes the area as a vibrant, youth-friendly hub for innovation and growth.
