On Feb 6, the 2026 Yangjiashanli ice and snow season and rural culture festival began in the Qingdao West Coast New Area. Running through March 3, this event combines winter sports with folk customs, boosting the local tourism economy through a creative "ice and snow + culture" model.
The festival offers over 30 activities across five themed areas, including skiing, handicraft workshops, and study tours. To cater to all ages, the local ski resort has upgraded its facilities with new snowmakers and professional gear, and added dedicated play areas for families.
Beyond the slopes, the event emphasizes rural vitalization. During the opening ceremony, the Yangjiashanli Gifts brand was unveiled, featuring high-quality local products like tea, fruit wine, and honey as premium branded offerings.
To stimulate spending, organizers launched the Qingdao Expressway-Yangjiashanli voucher program. Visitors presenting toll receipts from the Tieshan toll station can access exclusive discounts at local homestays and farm restaurants. Additionally, a bustling market with over 30 stalls allows tourists to sample fresh produce and explore intangible cultural heritage crafts, effectively bridging the gap between farm fields and consumer tables.
By hosting a series of festive events such as "spend Chinese New Year in a courtyard", Yangjiashanli is transforming from a quiet village into a lively winter destination. This approach not only enriches the region's seasonal tourism offerings but also invites visitors to experience an authentic and lively winter journey.
