The Qingdao AIGC-OPC (Artificial Intelligence Generated Content and One-Person Company) Industrial Base in Shinan district is offering a different response to concerns that artificial intelligIence will replace jobs in the audiovisual industry.

Opened just over several months ago, the base has attracted 43 OPCs and industry partners. More than 750 teams are making use of its production platform, while the wider ecosystem has supported over 1,000 jobs and business opportunities.

The base provides services spanning computing power, training, content production, copyright protection, and commercialization.

Its production model allows individual creators or small teams to complete work that previously required large film crews. AI handles repetitive tasks such as basic editing, subtitles, dubbing, and image generation, while creators are free to focus on storytelling, visual style, and project coordination. As a result, production costs can be significantly reduced, with some projects completed in as little as 48 hours.

The base also helps traditional film and media workers move into new roles, including AI production coordinators and independent content creators. It connects creators with orders from platforms, brands, and government clients, while providing shared facilities and copyright services.

The model has already been adopted in other cities, and Qingdao is now seeking to develop a wider ecosystem where AI enhances creative abilities instead of merely replacing workers.
