Shinan district in Qingdao initiated a series of themed activities on May 17 to celebrate International Museum Day and China Tourism Day. Their goal is to deepen the integration of cultural heritage with tourism while welcoming more visitors from both home and abroad.

The launch ceremony highlighted Shinan's open, inclusive, and stylish urban character. A key feature was the introduction of the "Take the High-Speed Railway to Shinan for Museums" brand. This program, developed jointly with Qingdao Railway Station, connects over 10 museums and century-old buildings in Qingdao's old town, making it easier for visitors to explore the district's cultural landmarks right after arriving by train.

Shinan also unveiled the "Most Beautiful Bay, Hello Shinan" inbound tourism campaign. Utilizing China's visa-free travel policies, the district plans to invite South Korean and Thai visitors to experience local culture, introduce six themed inbound travel routes, and offer a "Hello Shinan" tourism package featuring more than 30 discounts.

The event included a cultural and creative market displaying museum products, intangible cultural heritage items, and local specialties. In 2026, Shinan will expand its offerings with more museum-themed programs, including heritage markets in hotels, museum check-in activities, three themed cultural routes, and 30 public guided tours.

Home to 24 registered museums, including three national first-class museums, Shinan continues to strengthen its role as a dynamic hub for cultural tourism in Qingdao.
