Saleh Asheghabadi Mohsen, a foreign faculty member at Qingdao University of Technology who has lived in China for more than 10 years, shares his experience on how shopping in China has changed over the years.

Mohsen talks about a number of subjects ranging from the inconveniences he encountered a decade ago to the convenience of shopping today through WeChat, Alipay, and fast delivery services. He also talks about the shared tea culture between China and Iran and why tea is his preferred gift for family, friends, and relatives.

His views offer a glimpse into how foreign residents experience everyday life in Qingdao, Shandong province. It was also one of the perspectives featured during the 2026 "Discover Charming Qingdao" media tour, jointly organized by the Foreign Talent Research Center of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology.

During the event, members of the delegation visited eight universities, research institutes, and high-tech companies to learn more about Qingdao's development in sci-tech innovation, opening-up, and services for foreign experts.
