Qingdao among top 10 inbound destinations for holiday travel
Qingdao has ranked among China's 10 most popular destinations for inbound travelers during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, according to a travel forecast released by online travel platform Ctrip.
Ctrip data shows that inbound travel during the holiday period is expected to maintain double-digit growth, as China's appeal to overseas visitors continues to expand across a wider range of source markets.
Russia recorded the strongest growth, up 173 percent, while visitor numbers from the United Kingdom, Malaysia and Canada each rose by more than 50 percent. The report noted that inbound demand is also expanding beyond China's traditional neighboring markets to Europe and other regions.
Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Xiamen, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Qingdao and Xi'an made up the platform's top 10 inbound destinations.
Qingdao also appeared on another of Ctrip's holiday rankings, with the Tsingtao Beer Museum named among the 10 most popular attractions nationwide. The museum offers visitors a look at the city's brewing history and industrial heritage.
Domestic travel demand is also expected to rise during the extended holiday period. Travelers aged 25 to 34 are projected to account for nearly 40 percent of trips, while interprovincial travel is expected to make up 82 percent of bookings during the National Day holiday.
The figures point to growing demand for longer trips and more diverse urban and cultural experiences.
