Migratory birds enliven Qingdao's Wuhekou Wetland

(chinadaily.com.cn) | 2026-09-16

Migratory birds are adding a lively touch to the autumn landscape at Wuhekou Wetland in Qingdao West Coast New Area.

On Sept 14, flocks of birds were seen resting and flying over the wetland in Hongshiya subdistrict, where several rivers, including the Juyang River, meet Jiaozhou Bay.

The convergence of freshwater and seawater has created a diverse wetland environment of tidal flats and shallow waters, providing feeding and resting grounds for migratory birds.

As the autumn migration season unfolds, birds moving across the waters and shoreline have turned the wetland into a picturesque coastal scene, highlighting the natural beauty of Jiaozhou Bay.
