A media tour in Qingdao has highlighted how the city's specialized small and medium-sized enterprises are putting technological innovations to use in marine pharmaceuticals, new energy, industrial safety, and corporate travel.
The second day of the "Witness Qingdao" media program took reporters to four companies on Sept 11: Qingdao Guoxin Pharmaceutical Co, TELD New Energy Co, Safe Engineering Technology Group Co, and Yiqi Business Travel (Shandong) Technology Services Co.
At Guoxin Pharmaceutical, the focus was on marine drug development. Founded in 1994, the company operates a national pilot-scale base for marine pharmaceuticals. It has three marine drugs on the market, with several more undergoing clinical trials or at other stages of development.
TELD showcased its charging network for electric heavy trucks. By June, the company had built and operated more than 4,100 heavy-truck charging stations and over 53,000 charging terminals. Its megawatt-level charging technology can add about 100 kilometers of driving range in just five minutes.
Safe Engineering Technology Group demonstrated inspection robots powered by artificial intelligence and designed for industrial environments with smoke, dust, and strong backlighting.
Yiqi Business Travel uses AI to improve corporate travel management, from bookings and itinerary adjustments to compliance checks. Its system handles more than 2.1 million orders a year and can identify over 99 percent of instances of abnormal spending.
The four companies reflect Qingdao's strong efforts to support specialized SMEs and turn their expertise into practical industrial applications.
