Qingdao conference highlights computer vision industry

The GCVC Global Computer Vision Industry and Technology Conference opened on June 18 in the West Coast New Area of Qingdao, Shandong province to discuss opportunities and challenges brought about by the advent of AI.

More than 600 well-known scholars, corporate celebrities, and developers discussed AI industrial applications, cutting-edge technologies, academic education, and more, and carried out in-depth cross-industry and cross-disciplinary exchange.

Focusing on algorithm innovation in artificial intelligence, the conference was aimed at establishing cooperation between algorithm research and development teams and manufacturing enterprises.

It is important to solve practical problems facing enterprises, cultivate talent, foster innovation and entrepreneurship, and accelerate the development of artificial intelligence to empower the manufacturing industry, said the organizers.

The conference was dedicated to building China's artificial intelligence weathervane, an industry promotion accelerator, and an AI education booster.

The conference consists of a main forum, an education and technology sub-forum, and an industry and application sub-forum and is holding in-depth discussions on more than 20 cutting-edge topics in the industry.

As a national artificial intelligence innovation application pilot area approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Qingdao has been ramping up efforts to build a major national scientific and technological innovation base north of the Yangtze River.

The digital economy will help the West Coast New Area build Qingdao into an artificial intelligence hub. In recent years, it has introduced a number of leading high-tech enterprises, and in 2020, its operating revenue in AI and related industries reached nearly 50 billion yuan ($7.76 billion), with an average annual growth rate of more than 30 percent.
