The fifth session of the 16th Qingdao Municipal People's Congress opened on Jan 12 in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province.

Deputies to the 16th Qingdao Municipal People's Congress will hear the work reports of the Qingdao Municipal People's Government, the Qingdao Municipal Intermediate People's Court and the Qingdao Municipal People's Procuratorate.

During the four-day session, they will review the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for Qingdao's economic and social development and deliberate on the city's draft outline for its 2035 goals.

They will also deliberate on the report of the implementation of the 2020 plan for Qingdao's economic and social development and the draft plan for 2021, as well as the report on the implementation of the 2020 budget and the draft budget for 2021.

Qingdao is on track to embrace the "dual circulation" development pattern as it enters the 14th Five-Year Plan period in 2021, which also marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
