With a total investment of 1 billion yuan ($152.9 million), the country's largest goat milk powder processing project started construction on Dec 12 in Laixi, a county-level city in Qingdao, Shandong province.

Invested by Yeeper Diary Group, the project will be divided into two phases.

According to the investors, the first phase will consist of plants for the production and processing of sheep milk powder. These plants, which are powered by world-class intelligent technologies, are expected to produce 50,000 tons of sheep milk powder annually.

The second phase will involve building supporting facilities such as 200 standardized dairy sheep farms.

When completed, the project will promote the upgrading of the local dairy processing industry chain, drive the development of related industries, including transportation, packaging, retail and advertising, as well as create more jobs for local residents, said local officials.

In addition, the project can process 500 tons of fresh goat milk per day, which will stimulate dairy goat farming and the organic farming industry, both of which are important to boosting rural revitalization.

Established in 1956, Yeeper Diary Group is a multinational corporation with three baby milk powder factories in Heilongjiang province, one baby milk powder factory in South Korea and one dairy processing plant in Spain.
