The Qingdao West Coast New Area has launched a slew of measures to facilitate the development of the local film and TV industry as film studios reopen and crews resume work after several weeks of suspension due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Every key film and television industrial park will be eligible to receive a subsidy of up to 10 million yuan ($1.42 million), and crews will be eligible for subsidies of up to 1 million yuan.

The area is also providing fiscal, taxation, and financial support, rent reductions, and living allowances for crews and related enterprises to help them weather the current crisis.

The area will also provide subsidies for key film and television industrial parks that reduce or waive rents for photo studios.

In addition, it will provide subsistence allowances for crews that get authorization to shoot in the area before June 30, 2020. The allowance is valid until Dec 31, 2020, and the maximum subsidy for each crew is 1 million yuan.

A special fund for the Lingshan Bay Film and Television Cultural Industry will also be appropriated.

Furthermore, the Qingdao West Coast New Area has opened online service channels for handling business registration, film and television project registration, support fund declaration, online booking, and more to reduce the need for face-to-face contact.
