Qingdao Port in eastern Shandong province has established fast track channels to accelerate the customs clearances for epidemic prevention materials, the Qingdao News reported on Jan 31.

Port officials said a container -- imported from South Korea and loaded with materials to fight the pneumonia caused by the coronavirus – took just one and half hours to have its mandatory customs clearances.

They said the move aims to ensure the urgently needed medical supplies land as fast as possible in order to fight the coronavirus.

Amid the battle against the outbreak, Qingdao Port has stuck to the principles of no delays for epidemic prevention and control materials.

It has activated an emergency response mechanism to combat the outbreak and set up fast customs clearance teams for imported materials, in an effort to ensure their speedy clearance and delivery.
