Businesses are the main driving force behind the country's development, and large enterprises in Shandong should play a leading role in pushing the economy forward through the transformation of old and new economic drivers, said Huang Kexing, Party secretary and chairman of Tsingtao Brewery during the second session of the 13th Shandong Provincial People's Congress.

"Shandong, especially its coastal city Qingdao, is home to many industry leading enterprises. These enterprises should transform and upgrade themselves to contribute to high-quality development. On the other hand, they should integrate global high-quality resources to drive the development of their industry," said Huang.

"Though project cooperation, brand cultivating and innovation, industry leading enterprises can promote the province's high-quality development."

Huang added that Shandong province has a solid industrial foundation and a large proportion of traditional industries. With modern management and technology, traditional industries can be revitalized through constant innovation and upgrading.

Tsingtao Brewery is a major global player in the province. Established more than 100 years ago, it has expanded its sales network to more than 90 countries and regions.
