The Qingdao-based electronic giant Hisense ranks ninth among Chinese global brands according to the annual BrandZ Top 50 Chinese Global Brand Builders Report released on Feb 6.

Hisense was also named as "the fastest growing household appliance brand" by the report, which was issued by WPP and Kantar Millward Brown, in collaboration with Google.

The BrandZ Brand Power ranking casts the competitiveness of the brand with consumers in the crucial markets of France, Germany, Spain, the UK, the US, Australia and Japan, because those countries are recognized as locations where brands need to be successful to be considered truly global.

Hisense's entry into the top 10 Chinese global brands confirmed the household electrical appliance manufacturer's growing global stature and influence.

The company has created its own distinctive brands over the decades. It has built 17 overseas branches in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Australia and Southeast Asia and other regions, with 12 research institutions and three regional production bases. Its products are exported to more than 130 countries and regions.

Hisense TV products took the largest market share in Australia in 2017 and it was the first Chinese TV brand to achieve such success.

Last year Hisense acquired a 95 percent stake in Japan's Toshiba Visual Solutions Corporation (TVS), as part of its efforts to expand globally.

Hisense was also selected as an official sponsor of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

"We have reason to believe that Hisense will reap higher international profile with the opening of the FIFA World Cup," said a senior manager of the company.
