Laixi seeks to cash in on leisure tourism

The 2017 Qingdao (Laixi) International Summit Forum on Leisure Tourism was held recently in Laixi, a county-level city in Qingdao, Shandong province, aiming to build it into a global tourism city.

More than 200 distinguished guests from home and abroad took part in the event, including Roger Coles, president of the World Leisure and Recreation Association, Jiang Shuiqing, mayor of Laixi, experts from the tourism and leisure industry, local government officials and tourism enterprises.

During the event, the "Proposal for Laixi Leisure Tourism Cooperation" was released, calling for more exchanges in fields such as product innovation, channel development, internet marketing and research and development in the leisure tourism industry.

Keynote speeches on developing leisure tourism, brand building, tourism product development and promotion were delivered during the forum, discussing the proper path for Laixi to develop its leisure tourism and optimize local tourism resources.

A think tank was also established, formed by seven Chinese and overseas tourism experts, to promote Laixi leisure tourism and lift its profile in the global market.
