Qingdao high-tech zone strives for national innovation area construction

Qingdao high-tech industrial development zone recently announced the launch of two demonstration projects on technological innovation services and marine economic system reform with the aim of building itself into a regional center for marine industrial innovation and entrepreneurship, Qingdao Daily reported on May 5.

The announcement was made to serve the construction of the National Self-dependent Innovation Demonstration Area on the Shandong Peninsula which was approved by the State Council in March and will be composed of Qingdao high-tech industrial development zone and five other zones in the province.

As for the technological innovation services, the Qingdao high-tech zone will introduce a number of service institutions for research and development, start-up incubation, technological financing and intellectual property application and protection, making it a technological service cluster for industrial development, said the project director.

The zone will continue to explore the innovative marine industrial system in front of the backdrop of New Normal in a bid to develop new technologies, products and business models, the director added.

The Qingdao high-tech industrial development zone, near the Bohai and Huanghai Sea, has achieved a lot in technological innovation services and marine economic system reform. So far, it has 26 key laboratories above city level and five national technology incubators. In the future, it will continue to make use of its geographical advantages to develop emerging marine industries.
