The Phoenix Peninsular (or Fenghuangdao) Tourist Resort on the west coast of Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, was listed as a national tourism resort along with 16 other resorts in the country by the National Tourism Administration on Oct 9.

The resort, located in Huangdao district, covers 21 square kilometers of land area and 54 kilometers of coastline. Enjoying an ideal geographical location and abundance of tourism resources, it aims to become a competitive tourist destination appealing to domestic and overseas tourists.

The resort has various high-end hotels, wetlands, beaches and recreational facilities for visitors to enjoy their holidays. The city also holds the annual Qingdao International Beer Festival at the resort's Golden Beach. The festival, which is in its 25th consecutive year, has become an important tourism event for the city and attracts thousands of tourists every year.

According to local authorities, establishment of a national tourism resort in the Phoenix Peninsular will pave the way for the development of the provincial leisure and holiday tourism industry and enhance Qingdao's leading position in marine tourism in north China.
