Qingdao to launch first high-speed direct train to Chongqing on March

The coastal city of Qingdao, in eastern China's Shandong province, will have its first high-speed train service to the southwestern metropolis of Chongqing on March 20, according to an announcement by the Jinan Railway Administration on Jan 27.

Trains G318/5 and G316/7 will be put into operation for the new Qingdao-Chongqing service and the journey will take about 15 hours in total. The new train service will travel through Gaomi, Weifang, Qingzhou, Zibo, Jinan, Tai'an, Qufu, Xuzhou, Huainan, Hefei, Lu'an, Hankou, Hanchuan, Qianjiang, Jingzhou, Yichang, En'shi, Shizhu and Fuling.

According to the railway administration, the first service will depart at 7:30am from the Qingdao Railway Station on March 20.
