Qingdao features on China's top 10 smart tourism cities

The coastal city of Qingdao, in Eastern China's Shandong province, has recently has been rated as one of "China's top 10 smart tourism cities", according to the Chinese-language Qingdao Daily.

The announcement was made at the fourth China Tourism Industry Conference held between Jan 13-14 in the capital of Jiangxi province, Nanchang.

Sitting alongside Qingdao on the list were Beijing, Dalian, Chengdu, Wuhan, Suzhou, Luoyang, Changchun, Huangshan and Huizhou.

In Dec of 2012, Qingdao was designated by the National Tourism Administration as part of the second batch of pilot cities for the smart tourism industry. The city's tourism bureau actively promoted its smart tourism in 2014 by holding the 2014 China Tourism Marketing Summit under the title 'New Media Age', as well as launching its WeChat and mobile client accounts.
