The 20th Qingdao International Beer Festival will kick off Saturday and run until August 29 in the seaside city of Qingdao, Shandong Province.

International breweries representing 15 brands from 10 countries will tout their wares including Bitberger from Germany, Heineken from Netherlands and of course Qingdao's own Tsingtao.

Hundreds of beers will be available for all who attend to enjoy.

"It is the first time that representatives from five continents will gather together in Qingdao, including King Oryx from Tanzania," said Yang Yuanyuan, the festival's media liason.

The yearly event will be held at Qingdao International Beer City, with a host of parades, games, beer and food tasting, drinking contests and performances, as well as merchandise stalls for various breweries.

According to Yang, there will be five sections for the beers of five continents and pavilions and theme days will be organized for different beers.

"We will take our brand back to its hometown. The King Oryx is a draft beer, with a blend of Qingdao beer's production technology and local African flavor," commented Guan Hongzhong, general manager of King Oryx that imported beer making technology from Qingdao to Tanzania and registered the trademark in 2006 in Africa.
