Qingdao is undergoing in the high tourist season, hotels’ prices have risen sharply and there is a lack of rooms along the coast. Many foreign visitors want to rent a house for holidays, while it is hard for them to rent houses from the market to meet their needs.

On July 25, reporters learned that although the demand for short rental is very large, many housing intermediary companies are still not willing to go into this business, as the operating costs of short rental are high and the output is not proportional to the input.

From the end of July to Qingdao Beer Festival, it is very difficult for visitors to find rooms, which are below 200 yuan; many hotels are fully occupied with appointments. The demand for short rental is promoted as lots of tourists are looking for economical houses.

Sun Jie, The general manager of Qingdao headquarters, Pacific Housing District, told reporters that, the procedures for short rental are the same as long rental, but the lease term of short rental is generally from one week to one month, so the business of short rental needs large of human resources and the intermediary fees is only half of the rents in accordance with the lease term. Compared to long rental, the output of short rental is small while the input is high, so now they do not commence this business.
